What's the point in talking about inclusion and exclusion in reference to research on children's spirituality?
Increasingly, the theme of democracy is emerging as the participation of all individuals in building a society that fits everyone.
But when it comes to spirituality, which voices are included in practices and research?
Are we sure that everyone has a space for listening and support?
Or are there individuals who remain on the margins?
If you also ask yourselves these questions and believe it is important to include everyone in work related to spirituality, then this is the right place for you!
During our time together, I will lead you to reflect on the theme of inclusion and exclusion of certain children's voices within research and educational practices.
I will base my presentation on a paper I wrote as a collateral reflection on an experimental research project conducted between 2022 and 2023 on children's spirituality in the pre-verbal age (with children from 4 to 24 months).
Together, we will explore:
- the different definitions of spirituality;
- the ages of children involved in the researches;
- the factors such as gender, class, abilities; and finally,
- the role of stereotypes.
The goal of this session is to de-construct adult thinking to make it more sensitive and attuned to the child's world in its uniqueness and authenticity.
The presentation has already been uploaded, and I hope to leave space for questions and exchanges of experiences in the field of child research and child-centered research methods.
